Five Spice Tofu (Đậu hũ ngũ vị hương) Recipe

 


Ingredients

4  Firm Tofu (19 oz)
1/2 cup All Purpose Flour
Frying Oil
1 tsp. minced Garlic
2 tsp. Soy Sauce
1 tsp. Oyster Sauce
1 tsp. Annatto Seed Oil
1 tsp. Five Spiced Chinese Powder
2 tsp. Sugar
1 Tbsp. Olive Oil
1 Tbsp. minced Garlic
1 Tbsp. Water
chopped Green Onions
Ground Black Pepper

Cut Firm Tofu into small cubes and roll it in All Purpose Flour. Make sure all sides are covered in flour.  Set aside. 

Prepare frying oil and pan, fry the Tofu until golden. Once it’s golden, remove from oil and place on paper towel.  Set aside. 

In a bowl, add in 1 tsp. minced Garlic, 2 tsp. Soy Sauce, 1 tsp. Oyster Sauce, 1 tsp. Annatto Seed Oil, 1 tsp. Five Spiced Chinese Powder and 2 tsp. Sugar. Mix well. 

Using medium heat, add 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil into a pan.  Add 1 Tbsp. minced Garlic.  Saute for a few seconds. Add in the sauce mixture.  Lower the heat to low.  Add 1 Tbsp. Water. Add in the Fried Tofu.  Mix well.  Add some chopped Green Onions and some Ground Black Pepper.  Remove from heat and serve. Enjoy with your meal.
