Crispy Fried Krill Street Food (Bánh tép chiên bột) Recipe

 


Ingredients
3/4 cup Tapioca Starch
1/4 cup Rice Flour
Water
12 oz. Krill Shrimp
1 tsp. minced Garlic
1/2 tsp. Mushroom Seasoning
1 tsp. Sugar
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Ground Black Pepper
1 Thai Chili Pepper *optional
1/2 tsp. Turmeric Powder
Frying Oil

In a large ball, combine 3/4 cup Tapioca Starch and 1/4 cup Rice Flour.  Add in some water and mix into a liquid.  Cover and set aside for 30 minutes. 

Rinse 12 oz. Krill Shrimp.  Drain out the water and set aside to dry. Place in a bowl. Add in 1 tsp. minced Garlic, 1/2 tsp. Mushroom Seasoning, 1 tsp. Sugar, 1/2 tsp. Salt, 1/2 Ground Black Pepper and mix. Add in 1 Thai Chili Pepper (optional). Set aside for 15 minutes. 

After 30 minutes, add in 1/2 tsp. Turmeric Powder into the batter and mix. 

Fill a pan with frying oil.  Using a ladle, scoop some krill shrimp and dip it into the batter then into the frying oil.  Fry until golden.  Repeat until finish. Enjoy with fresh vegetables and dipping fish sauce.
