Vietnamese Shrimp and Potato Fritters (Bánh tôm khoai lang) Recipe

 


Ingredients
3 Potatoes
1 cup Batter Flour or All Purpose Flour
1 tsp. minced Garlic
1 tsp. Sugar
1/2 tsp. Onion Powder
1 tsp. Oyster Sauce
1/4 tsp. Mushroom Seasoning
1/2 tsp. Ground Pepper
1/2 cup Water
8 Shrimp
Lettuce 
Tomato
Frying Oil

In a large bowl, add in 1 cup Batter Flour or All Purpose Flour.  Add in about 1/2 cup Water, add more as needed.  Mix until smooth. 

Prepare 8 shrimp by removing the black string and the shell, leave the tail.  Marinate the Shrimp.  In a bowl, add in 1 tsp. Oyster Sauce.  Add 1 tsp. minced Garlic. Add 1/2 tsp. Onion Powder, 1 tsp. Sugar, 1/4 tsp. Mushroom Seasoning and 1/2 tsp. Ground Black Pepper. Mix well, marinate for 15 minutes. 

Peel 3 Potatoes and cut into strips.  Place into batter and mix. 

Have your frying oil ready.  Scoop some of the potato with batter in a large ladle and place a shrimp on top.  Slide into frying oil.  Fry until golden.  Place on paper towel so it can soak up some of the oil.  Serve with some Lettuce and Tomato slices.  Enjoy.
